US Bra Size to EU

A US bra size converts to EU in two moves, one for each half of the label. The band is the clean part: a US 34 is an EU 75, because the European number simply is your underbust in centimetres — about 75 cm for a 34 band. Step up a band and Europe steps up five: a US 36 is an EU 80, a US 38 an EU 85. The cup is where it…

HOW TO USE

  1. 1

This page is preset to US → EU. Type your US bra size (the default is 34C) and read the EU size.

  2. 2

The band converts to your underbust in centimetres: a US 34 is an EU 75, a US 36 an EU 80 — five centimetres per band.

  3. 3

Cups A to D are unchanged, but Europe has no DD: a US DD is an EU E and a US DDD is an EU F. Try 34DD to see it.

  4. 4

Check the line beneath for the underbust and bust each size implies, or tap ⇄ to reverse to EU → US.

ABOUT BRA SIZES

A bra size is two measurements pretending to be one label. The band comes from your underbust, and the cup comes from the difference between your bust and your underbust — roughly one inch per cup. Every country writes the same pair differently. The band is the easy half: it is the underbust in centimetres in Europe and Japan, that same number plus fifteen in France and Spain, a small index in Italy, and a number of its own in the US, UK and Australia — so a 75 band is a US 34, a French 90, an Italian 2 and an Australian 12, all describing roughly a 75‑cm underbust. The cup is where it goes wrong. Cups convert by position, not by letter: the fifth cup is a DD in the US and UK but an E in Europe, and the sixth is a DDD in the US, an E in the UK and an F in Europe. That single fact is the most expensive misunderstanding in lingerie — a UK E is not an EU E; it is an EU F. Note too that the US and UK band number is not your underbust measurement in inches: it already has roughly four inches built in, which is why a 34 band suits a 29–30‑inch underbust. Measure snugly under the bust for the band and loosely across the fullest part for the bust, take the difference, and treat the answer as a starting point — brands differ, and the same pair of numbers can fit two ways.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

An EU 75C. The band converts because 75 is the underbust in centimetres that a US 34 band stands for, and C is the third cup in both systems, so the letter is unchanged.

  • US 34C → EU 75C.
  • EU band = underbust in cm.
  • US 34 ≈ 75 cm underbust.
  • Cups A–D are unchanged.
