HOW TO USE

  1. 1

Enter your Annual Gross Income — your total earnings before any deductions or withholding.

  2. 2

Select your Filing Status: Single, Married Filing Jointly, Married Filing Separately, or Head of Household.

  3. 3

Optionally enter Pre-tax Deductions — 401(k) contributions, HSA contributions, or traditional IRA contributions reduce your AGI.

  4. 4

Choose Standard Deduction (pre-filled for your filing status) or switch to Itemized if your deductions exceed the standard amount.

  5. 5

Review the bracket breakdown showing exactly how much of your income falls in each tax bracket.

WORKED EXAMPLE

Single filer, $75,000 gross income, standard deduction, no pre-tax deductions. Step 1: AGI = $75,000 (no pre-tax deductions). Step 2: Taxable income = $75,000 - $15,750 standard deduction = $59,250. Step 3: Tax = 10% on first $11,925 ($1,192.50) + 12% on $11,925-$48,475 ($4,386) + 22% on $48,475-$59,250 ($2,370.50) = $7,949.00. Effective rate = $7,949 / $75,000 = 10.60%. Marginal rate = 22% (the rate on your last dollar of income).
