Does the day counter include today?

The main figure counts the whole days that have fully passed since the date, so on the date itself it reads zero and then increases by one each midnight. The live hours, minutes and seconds shown beside it represent how far into today you are, which is why they reset at midnight as the day count ticks up by one.

How is the span shown in years, months and days?

Alongside the day total, the calculator gives the span in calendar years, months and days — for example “2 years, 3 months and 12 days”. This is often easier to grasp than a large number of days. It uses real calendar months, so the number of days in each month is respected rather than assuming a fixed 30-day month.

What if the date I enter is in the future?

If you pick a date that has not happened yet, there are no days “since” it, so the calculator switches to telling you how many days remain until that date, and links you to the countdown tool for a live to-the-second countdown. Choose any past date and it goes back to counting days since.

Are weekends and leap years included?

Yes. Every day is counted, including Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays — it is a straight calendar count. Leap days that fall within the span are included automatically, so a count that crosses one or more 29 Februarys stays accurate. If you need working days only, a business-day tool is the better fit.

How is “days since” different from a countdown?

Days since counts up from a date in the past, growing by one each day. A countdown counts down to a date in the future, shrinking toward zero. They are two sides of the same idea: use days since for anniversaries and streaks that keep growing, and a countdown for events you are waiting for.
