Does the world clock handle daylight saving time?

Yes. It uses the IANA time zone database through your browser, which knows each region’s daylight-saving rules and when they switch. So a city can shift by an hour when it enters or leaves daylight saving, and the clock follows automatically. Regions that do not observe daylight saving, such as most of India and much of Asia, are shown correctly too.

How do I add or remove cities?

Use the “Add a city” dropdown to place any supported city on the board, and click the ✕ on a card to remove it. Your own local time zone is detected automatically and pinned with a “Your time” badge so you always have a reference point. The clocks re-sort themselves from west to east as you add cities.

Why is it already a different day in some cities?

Because zones far to the east are hours ahead, they can already be on the next calendar day while zones to the west are still on the previous one. When it is late evening in Los Angeles, Tokyo is already well into tomorrow morning. Each card shows its own date beneath the time, so you can always see which day a city is on.

What do the light and dark clock faces mean?

A light clock face means it is currently daytime in that city, and a dark face means night, using a simple guide of 06:00 to 18:00 for day. It is a quick visual cue for whether someone is likely awake before you call or message. Actual daylight hours vary with latitude and the season, so treat the shading as an indicator rather than exact sunrise and sunset times.

What is the difference between a world clock and a time zone converter?
